The Barnsley 10k has been organised by the athletic club in a variety of forms over the years, famously taking place in the town centre attracting a whole host of high profile runners, whilst being known as the famous Barnsley 6 which ran up Old Mill Lane twice. Then moving more recently to Royston and now in its most recent form using a course at Grimethorpe adopting the name The Barnsley 10k. It has now transitioned over to a Town Centre 10k, taking place on the last Sunday in June and delivered by the What’s Your Move campaign and Barnsley Council.
As of 2024 the Barnsley 10k is now organised as a part of the What’s Your Move campaign by Barnsley Council.
